Our Story

阿姨,Tita, Nei, dì, Chachi, tía, 이모, toto'ē, mehikitanga

Hi, my name is Lisa. I grew up with my aunt, who has been the foundational support for our family. Not only did she help raise me, while my mom was at work but she also spent over 2 decades helping care for my grandmother and for my stepfather’s mom at home. Both of them lived a full life and passed away peacefully at home, at 98 and 95 respectively.

Growing up, I saw what culturally aware, quality care looked like. However, after recently leaving my corporate career to take care of my mom at 78 with her recovery from total hip replacement surgery, I saw how little support and quality of care there is for our senior elders who want to live independently at home.

Instead of waiting for government changes on benefits and coverage side, I decided I wanted to help and created the Aunties Network - a community-based network that matches elders in the community who need companion care services with members of the community who can provide care.

The network has grown from a person of one (Lisa) to many others in the community, who are vetted and trusted. Everyone deserves the quality care that my grandmothers received from my aunt. We hope to create a solution to the societal problem of long-term care, through community to help our seniors live their best lives, independently at home.

“Thank you for being his walking buddy. It’s doing him a world of good.”
